We haven’t had that many artists release socially conscious music since Lyfe Jennings got locked up and Raheem DeVaughn started doing radio. Well that has changed thanks to Atlantic Records R&B artist Muhammad Ayers(or Michael Ayers, or Mr. Ayers, lol). Ayers was signed to Atlantic Records after winning Andre Harrell’s Superstar Soul Search last July(Contrary to reports that R&B quartet Hamilton Park had won) and has been unjustly sat on the shelf at Atlantic offices. “I Am the 99” speaks to the new generation of leaders not afraid to stand against the status quo. Well I think Muhammad is in a lane thats needed in soul music right now so look out for more from him on this site as well as others!
